Thanks for this Tony.  This kind of news is always very welcome on the 
Forum-- wish we had more of it.

Apparently the filming of  W took place over four seasons to match the 
structure of the novel - do let us know if you think this enhances the film 
narrative. I remember the days when false snow would be blowing around the 
set when filming took place in summer and how embarrassingly fake it 
was!  The filming of (Emma Thompson) The Winter Guest on the Fife coast at 
Pittenweem required false snow but then the real snow snowed, the sea 
froze, & all was cast asunder!
