'Dear all,
I am doing some research on Witchcraft in Thomas Hardy. I discovered the valuable work of Ruth Firor but more references will be helpful to me.'

Bouna, I have just read your message on witchcraft and Thomas Hardy. My advice is to check Ruth Firor's comments with Hardy's texts and with other critical sources.
I have found some of her statements to be unreliable and rather careless. It might be useful to check with various editors of The Return of the Native, for example as a comparison with Firor. There are a number of biographers who touch on witchcraft from whom you can then find other references.
If you look through the Oxford Reader's Companion to Hardy, edited by Norman Page, there are several indications of reliable research references for more detailed study. The word 'witchcraft ' itself may not be specifically mentioned but you might find other words associated with this topic. All the novels are specifically covered, as well as a wide range of individual subjects.
  Good luck with your research.
  Ann Whitlock
