[Hardy-l] Greek chorus

     Many years ago I remember reading a critic's work on the role of the
rustics in hardy's novels, and reference was made to them resembling the
chorus in Greek drama. I wonder if anyone can point me towards this source,
and also, if possible, towards nay references connected with the rustics and
Roman comedy.
