Bauman Rare Books advertises the following item on the back page of  
The New York Times Book Review 9-9-07:

Thomas Hardy
Tess of the D'Urbervilles (sic)
1891. "Among the immortal works of English literature"  (A.S.W.  
Rosenbach).
First edition of Hardy's greatest novel, scarce first issues of all  
three volumes,
one of only 1000 copies, in original cloth.           $13,800.
