[Hardy-l] Ruskin

     I wonder if anyone could tell me where I might find any information on
Hardy's views on Ruskin? I am working on the gargoyle episode in 'Far From
the madding Crowd at the moment in which Hardy's depiction of the gargoyle
closely resembles Ruskin's description of gothic grotesques. I am
particularly interested to know if Hardy ever made any comment in letters or
other sources regarding Ruskin's associated 'political' views. Thus far I
have drawn a blank on finding any such observations but that's probably
because I ain't looking in the right places!
