[Hardy-l] Ruskin

Jackie, Hardy was certainly familiar with Ruskin's  Modern Painters.   
In a letter to his sister Mary from London dated 17 August, 1862 He  
relates that a friend has been reading him extracts from it.    
Several excerpts he copied from it are included in
The Literary Notebooks of TH.  Ed. Lennart  A. Björk.  These might  
be, at least,  a starting point for your research.
