Dear all-
I am delighted to have just posted a thoughtful new review of Amanda
Claybaugh's *The Novel of Purpose: Literature and Social Reform in the
Anglo-American World *written by Sara Malton, Saint Mary's University,
Halifax, Canada.* *Sara, a presenter at HaY, discusses Claybaugh's
investigation of "the relationship between the rise of reform and the
development of a distinctly Anglo-American realism in the
nineteenth-century." Sara's comments on the chapter, "The New Woman and
Thomas Hardy," are quite interesting.
