[Hardy-l] A Lovely Surprise!

Dear All, I just came home from a walk in the beautiful rose garden  
in the grounds of our new retirement community.  The Rose Committee  
has been busy placing name plates by all the roses.  To my surprise  
and delight I came across a magnificent white rose named  'Jude the  
Obscure.'  I couldn't  help wondering how it acquired that name.  Can  
anyone enlighten me?

What a treat it was!
