In his original email Fincham made the unqualified statement that Lawrence was homosexual, and now when challenged as too his proof he criticises those of like mind as myself who believe that Lawrence was not so.
  Unless he can produce such proof, and not just hearsay, he is unquestionally perpetuating something untrue, which others when reading this from one who they in turn believe to be a beyond reproach scholarly academic, they could be forgiven for considering it as gospel.
  Because Lawrence was not known to have had sex with a woman did not automatically make him homosexual, or even to be considered one.
  In his later email Fincham has compounded his error, though now in a modified way, by speculating "his [Lawrence's] probable sexual orientation, which psychologically fits neatly with his character." In other words, he appears to be speculating on and manipulating spurious facts to suit his own opinions.
  When in a hole, stop digging.
