Dear Rosemarie,
The previous draft email just now I forwarded prematurely in error.
Thank you again for your kind comments about my blog posting. I should greatly appreciate if you could please consider posting these remarks as a Comment in the appropriate posting in the blog. (Pour encourage les autres) The blog is designed that any posted Comments should also come to me as an email.
In the PREFACE & ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS posting you probably noted the possible Thomas Hardy association with the Purse Caundle area. I can quite imagine him cycling the still relatively quiet country lanes there.
Best wishes,
Ronald Knight

Ronald, your "Caundle" Glossary of Terms is invaluable. What a marvellous
resource for any literary historian. I, for one, taking meadows for granted
as just another kind of field, didn't know the seemingly simple fact that
meads are kept as grassland for making hay.**
Many thanks,
Rosemarie
