[Hardy-l] Apologies

None taken Carolyn, no indeed. I wonder though if, perhaps, I should explain my suggestion of the episode being, to me anyway, surreal. Don't forget that I did see only the one episode, the last one. On that basis I am more than likely judging the series incorrectly and I accept that.

It struck me though, that when one only sees one episode often one is drawn straight away to the characters involved, and I just did not warm to them at all. Also I dislike the overly dramatic way (heroine places hand to forehead and half closes eyes, 'oh whoa is me' (not that Tess did that I hasten to add)) that this type of interpretation is presented. I find it sickly and that was how I felt about that particular episode. I know from personal experience that life just is not like that, and I don't think that Hardy writes in that manner either, and thus, for me, it spoils the story, and the Hardy experience. Particularly given that Hardy addresses all kinds of issues in his writing, which are prevalent in real life.

Hey ho, I'll have to watch the whole series and find out what it was really like, see if I do warm to the characters and report back.

Kind regards

Pauline

Apologies to both Joan and Pauline for wrongly addressing my question for one to the other. I had read about six postings at once and thought I had remembered rightly, but then I'm the one who posted my contributions to POTM that evening so that shows how on the ball I can be. No offence intended.
