I am not sure if this has been discussed already, but there is much concern
in England over the threatened destruction of Two Mile Wood near Weymouth.
Many web sites say things like "Several acres of Two Mile wood outside
Weymouth are under threat from plans to build a bypass. This remnant of
ancient forest is known for its association with the writer Thomas Hardy."
See, for example:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/oct/21/forests-conservation
None of them seem to say quite what this association with Thomas Hardy is
and I am sure subscriber friends will be able to help.
