Likewise, there are two books, numerous articles, and a certain website to testify to Hardy's appeal to filmmakers.  The BBC Tess is the tenth Hardy adaptation in the last fifteen years.  Not many authors outside Austen and Shakespeare can claim that much interest.

I think TTHA's Checklist, directed by Jeanie Smith, says it all. Jeanie
(not I) might be able to give the  figures on Hardy reprints, scholarly
works and so on -- they are most impressive and a sure testament to his
literary status!
