You are very generous Carolyn.

I think you'll find that Acton has his opposition.  Havelock Ellis's 10 
vols (was it -- or 8 ) -- anyway voluminous -- is perhaps one of the most 
informed spirits of the age.  He is thorough at any rate. which I don't 
feel Acton really was (Ellis and Hardy did meet - albeit briefly)
