Someone mentioned that Angel and Tess spent only one night in the mansion. 
In the first edition it has five days (I haven't looked at the Wessex 
edition but I have a feeling it's the same)

  Yes, Paul, please do use "miniseries" or Masterpiece or BBC. "Serial" 
conventionally means the serial edition. But thank you, warmly, for your 
detailed account of the Masterpiece version. One disappointment to me was 
(if I recall correctly)  that Tess's "I am ready" is not, as in Hardy, 
addressed to her arresting officers but to Angel.  That somehow modifies 
the serene heroism of her stance I think.
