Hi Rosemarie, many thanks for your message.  I agree entirely about the 
loss of our ancient landscapes. As you say it is the speed with which 
change comes about, after so many thousands of years being undisturbed.

In case you might be interested, I have recently helped set up a Richard 
Jefferies Society Forum, to promote discussion about Jefferies, the South 
West, and his contemporaries.  I also have just set up a thread on 
Victorian science. Seeing as Jefferies and Hardy were neighbours, of sorts, 
I wonder whether it might be possible to inform subscribers to TTHA?  It 
would be lovely to welcome some new members, and if there happen to be any 
topics/ threads that people would like to see/ participate in then 
suggestions are welcome!
