I agree.  I don't think it looks much like Hardy at all -- apart from the balding and the moustache, and even the degree of the former is wrong for the period (c. 1890) that the seller is suggesting: photos taken at around that time show Hardy to be somewhat less bald than the sitter in the photograph, and what hair he does have to be less white.  But quite apart from that, the shape of the face is wrong.
 
Given that there is no independent evidence for its being Hardy, a claim that seemingly rests entirely on the seller's questionable opinion that it looks like him, I'd say that E-bay is well into let-the-buyer-beware territory on this offering.

There is an interesting photographic image presently for auction on 
eBay. The sellers are convinced it's Hardy but the too narrow face 
and the nose shape, as well as the fact that 'Hardy' is not wearing 
the de rigeur tie or cravat, suggests not !
