Thanks, Betty for noting this macabre conjunction of Hardy and the day's
news. For me the most recent such convergence came when I read about the
scandal at Burr Oak Cemetery here in Illinois, where workers have apparently
removed bodies from older graves and re-sold the burial plots. If you care

The Hardy connection, of course, was to "The Levelled Churchyard" and
perhaps even more to "In the Cemetery" from "Satires of Circumstance":
