I was not sure of the correct pronunciation, but thoroughly enjoyed
reading A Laodicean. The novel, featuring a leading lady with the
remarkably modern name of Paula Power, starts slowly in outer Wessex but
ends up moving all over mainland Europe, recommended to anyone who has not
read it.

The author was born on this date one hundred and sixty-nine years ago.

Best wishes,
Tony
