[hardy-l] That Cat Story

How can you prove a negative? It's the classic scientific conundrum. I
could say that Hardy had half a dozen illegitimate children by loose women
he met in London, and had to give a chunk of his future income in hush money
which was why he had to work so hard... and you'd be hard pushed to prove me
wrong. That's why internet conspiracy theorists abound.

Subject: [hardy-l] That Cat Story

Dear All,

A friend asked me this morning if there was any truth to that
perennial old canard about the cat eating Hardy's heart. I told her
no, of course, but couldn't immediately think of any authoritative
figure to cite in order to convincingly refute it. Can anyone help?

Many Thanks,
Betty
