[Ttha-potm] re Runicity of stone

Dear Carolyn,
the glass seems to be the image of his memory, while the stone the one of his past with Emma, or Emma herself. Both these are there like two symbols: the former is shaped to reflect his time, so it is necessarily bi-dimensional and metaphysic; the latter has a concrete shape, in a more fixed space. "From zone to zone" can be the map of his life, and each zone can be reflected in a glass, while he is making his portrait (like in "The Darkling Thrush") which comes out to be a sort of runic stone. The runic element seems to reaffirm the cyclical tendency of time. The poet seems to insist on exhuming his personal "mead of memories", and "veiling" his verses with a queer and sacred shape and a 'distinctive' durée as well.
Thank you for giving me (us) new perspectives, Ilaria
