An amusing thought -- but what then is the "heir" to religious belief -- 
which also had the benefit of analgesics over aeons? Marx used the phrase 
"opiate of the masses" in part, I suppose, because Christianity offers a 
panacea to ease intolerable lives of pain and suffering by the promise of 
immortality in a paradisal afterlife?
