I think that if "wight" were self-referential as opposed to referring to 
"They," that the related performative, "abide" would be "abides." ("Me-- 
fellow-wight who yet abide[s]")

Maybe a crux (?) but I would rather say *crucial* given that these souls 
are still in some way present: --  they "yet abide."
